Galapagos Island animals are unique because they "can’t be bothered when humans are around" and they have evolved in ways only to be found at the Galapagos Islands.

But before you dig deep into the uniqueness of diversification, the main thing is to enjoy these Galapagos Island animals in their daily life and surroundings.

The most curious bird of all, I always call it the "smurf bird" is the one below: as if he bought himself some plastic swimwear and his favorite colour is blue…

Galapagos Island animals : the blue footed booby

This bird dives in the sea in order to catch fish, so that’s already an amazing thing to witness every day. It becomes fun though when you experience their mating dance… then you understand why the colour of their feet is so blue.

We will show you this in our next post and also explain why the bird is called booby in the first place. It’s derived from a Spanish word because don’t forget: Galapagos Island animals are close to the south American continent.

I keep on repeating this: the animals on the Galapagos Islands just never learned that they should be afraid for humans…

Which is great for us, so we can come up close to them, but sometimes it can be bad not to fear humans with "bad eyesight"…

You have to experience it before you believe it: the first Island we embarked on was "Isla Bachas". After some strolling around and seeing some flamingos and Galapagos marine iguanas, we wanted to sit down and take it all in…

Until the guide shouted: "don’t you sit there"!…

One of us almost sat down straight on an iguana… warming up in the sun before diving back into the cold water. It’s true: a cold reptile doesn’t move that fast, but these iguanas… you can just sit next to them and they pretend you are not even there!
